WE MAKE BRIGHTER DAYS HAPPEN

About Us

Brighter Days Resource Alliance, Incorporated exists to serve as a liaison for justice involved persons who suffer from traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorder. Through partnerships and alliances with social, community, and medical providers we aim to provide education, mentoring, and peer support to affected persons, caregivers or family members.

These services are critical to individual and family wellness, community safety and economic growth.

We must educate the public, the courts and the legislature to bring justice to underserved and underrepresented members of our society.

What makes a day brighter?

A day is brightened when those who need it get the education and resources necessary to improve their acclimation to society. We aim to make that happen by:

  • PTSD and TBI awareness and offender management training for jail, prison, parole and probation, courts, recovery organizations, and shelter staff
  • Screening assessment by licensed psychologists
  • Neuropsychological referrals
  • In-person and virtual training program for survivors
  • Case management
  • Mentoring and support prior to and after re-entry
  • Support group for families and caregivers

ARKANSANS! DID YOU KNOW...

Arkansas is the 29th largest state by population; just over 3 million in 2022. Per 100,00 people, Arkansas ranks: #6 in the nation for persons incarcerated, #19 in the nation for drug overdoses and has 2,459 homeless persons. The recidivism rate (rate at which felons reoffend) was 46% in 2022.

Homelessness, drug use, anger, depression, and criminal conduct are associated with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), PTSD and suicide attempts. There are no screenings for TBI and PTSD in jails or prisons in Arkansas. There are no re-entry or education programs dedicated to justice involved persons with TBI or PTSD. Yet, 50-80% of incarcerated persons suffer from TBI. The percentage is higher for those with PTSD.
